1928 Beacon Hill

We really did like this place. I feel bad giving it 4 stars but it’s insanely over priced. I know that’s boston but we ordered 2 soups, a Caesar salad and two ice teas and it’s somehow $80 after tip. Sheesh! The clam chowder was amazing, service was great, people were nice and pleasant. Very quaint place and feels like a living room. I get that restaurants need to be over priced to survive in boston but my suggestion is upcharge the alcohol and entrees. Don’t gauge the customer on a Caesar salad and soups.

The place looks very nice on the inside. Loved the whimsical decorations! The location is also great, just a bit off of charles street. We were sat down very quickly on 2 armchairs! It felt like we were sitting in someone’s livingroom! Such a unique setup. We went there around 2pm expecting to have lunch but apparently *this place offers lunch only on certain days and special occasions* so be careful before going! Most likely you will be having brunch if you don’t double check first. From the brunch options we opted for the burger because we didn’t want breakfast food. The meat was delicious!! And I loved that the only sauce this burger has is the egg yolk - we asked them to remove the avocados because sometimes restaurants tend to cut the avocados too thick and they end up overpowering all the other flavors in the burger. The fries were divine!! Sadly, they didn’t have good dessert options - I think when we went they only had affogatos. So if you have a sweet tooth, you should make other dessert plans if you go there for brunch.

I just went to 1928 for the first time and had a 10/10 experience. The cocktails were amazing - recommend the salted cosmo. As far as food goes, it is definitely the best comfort food I have had in Boston. The owner Kristin happened to be in the restaurant and couldn't have been nicer - she visibily prioritizes treating both the staff and customers well. The restaurant ambiance/atmosphere is amazing and there are so many small attentions to detail that couple Beacon Hill charm with modern touches. Will definitely return!
